For my birthday trip this year we were able to go to Peru. I've always wanted to go ever since my dad and brother went almost 25 years ago. I would like to thank Elder Marcus B. Nash for mentioning hiking Huayana Picchu in General Conference which got this whole trip going.
After landing in Lima, we had about 6 hours to wait for our next flight to Cusco. Here is what the airport looked like around 1am. I have never seen such a busy airport in the middle of the night.
Of course we were able to find the missionaries!
Later that day we got our flight to Cusco, Peru. Sorry about this picture it was cloudy and raining when we landed.
We immediately got a taxi to take us to Ollanteytombo, here is some of the scenery along the way.
Sure glad we don't have to walk our cows!
This is our hotel for the first night of our trip, right beside the railroad tracks; thankfully our room was in the back!
We spent some time walking around the town and exploring the ruins and the craft market.
The view from the top of the ruins above town.
What a happy couple!
not sure why we felt the need to crouch here.
More of the market with the mountains rising in the background.
one of the streets in town.
some of the women in their traditional costumes.
